about us

Through the regional revitalization initiative, Asago Cycling arose from a mission to spearhead a new cycling tourism and lifestyle movement in Asago City. We work with the local community to help visitors discover everything our wonderful city has to offer.

our philosophy

Asago Cycling believes cycling is the future of tourism. Cycling is not only an environmentally beneficial means of transportation, but it also allows you to slow down and take in all of the lovely views that the Japanese Inaka (countryside) has to offer.

When you book a tour or rent a bike from us, you are doing your part to support the local economy and the lives of its residents. It is our dream to see Asago thrive as a top destination and to share this lovely city with the rest of the globe.

Come and discover Asago with us.

Inaka

# Inaka

田舎 inaka is the Japanese term for the countryside. In Japan, anything that is not a metropolitan area such as Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto is viewed as inaka, ie. villages in the mountains, towns by the sea, remote islands…

The Japanese countryside is as rich in nature as Japan’s geography allows; it harbours endless cultural and historic treasures surrounded by breathtaking scenery. When visiting the Japanese countryside, you will be greeted by the warmth and hospitality of its people, bringing your Japanese experience to a whole new level.

Discover a more authentic Japan by booking a trip with Asago Cycling where you’ll experience nature, learn about Japanese culture and get a glimpse at the Japanese lifestyle through your interactions with locals.

regional
revitalization

The Regional Revitalization Corps is part of the Japanese national strategy to curb rural-urban migration. As many other developed countries, Japan is experiencing population decline in rural areas and overpopulation in urban areas, with about 11% of its population concentrated in the Tokyo Metropolis.

The Regional Revitalization Corps aims at attracting people from major cities to rural towns to launch their own businesses in rural areas, thus reviving the local economy and improving the quality of life in the area. The participants’ unique ideas bring a new light on these municipalities’ specialties and strength, which in turns attracts more people who move to the area.

Asago Cycling was born out this program as a way to promote Asago in a way that is both respectful of the environment and its citizens.
